Quadcept : About Projects
About Projects
A project is a file to store design documents such as schematics and PCBs.
In Quadcept, each design document is always created within a project. Schematics and PCBs stored in it are linked with each other, and you can do various operations such as transferring a captured design to a new PCB or performing a synchronization between existing designs.
Also, projects are saved as files (File Extension: *.qproj), unlike other objects. This allows you to save your project files to Windows directories and helps to manage/share them more intuitively.
* Other objects except projects are stored in a Quadcept database(*.qdb). For details, see the About Quadcept File Configuration page.
Besides this, libraries used in a design are cached in a project file (Library Cache). For further information on Library Cache, please see About Library Cache.

What You Can Do with Projects
1. Manage multiple pieces of schematic and PCB data (Export Netlist)
2. Link schematics and PCBs (Extract Differences, Forward Annotation, Back Annotation)
3. Store files related to projects (Netlists, BOMs, Gerber Files, etc.)
4. Manage and print files for each project
5. Extract differences between new and old schematics and PCB drawings
6. Cache libraries used in a project (Library Cache)
For how to create a new project, see Creating a New Project. If you wish to open an existing project file, refer to Open Project.
Various operations for project files can be performed in the Project Window. For details, refer to Project Window.
Project files you have created are searchable by keywords such as component number or ID with Quadcept ProjectFinder. This tool is useful when you wish to find projects that contain end-of-life or out-of-stock components.
Converting Projects Created in Quadcept Ver.9.3.22 or Earlier
Quadcept projects were isolated from a Quadcept database (*.qdb) in the version 10 of Quadcept, and are now managed as independent project files. In order to use projects that were created in Ver.9.3.22 or earlier with the latest version of Quadcept(Ver.10 or later), you first need to save them as Quadcept project files(*.qproj). For details on how to do this, see the Extracting Projects from Quadcept Database(.qdb) / Extracting Projects from Quadcept File(.qcom) page.
